LocationThe program will be offered by IMU at the Chennai and Cochin campuses.
How to applyThe IMU- CET application form will be made available through the following channels:
1. The application form along with the information brochure can be bought at selected branches of Indian Bank by paying Rs 1000 (Rs 500 in case of SC/ST/DA candidates).
2. Download the application form, information brochure and payment challan online at
http://www.imu.tn.nic.in . The fee of Rs 1000 (Rs 500 in case of SC/ST/DA candidates) can be paid through challan payable at any of the SBI/Indian Bank branches all over India.
3. Through Post by sending a demand draft valued at Rs 1000 (Rs 500 for SC/ST/DA candidates) in favour of “Indian Maritime University” payable at Chennai.
4. Direct visit to our University offices at Chennai/Mumbai/Kolkata/Vizag and Cochin by submitting a demand draft valued Rs 1000 (Rs 500 for SC/ST/DA candidates) in favour of “Indian Maritime University” payable at Chennai.
Admission Procedure1. The admission for this program is offered in August. IMU invites applications from prospective students through advertisements in national and regional dailies detailing all the relevant information and criteria for admission.
2. Eligible candidates are advised to apply for the Common Entrance Test conducted by IMU. Those appearing for the qualifying examination are also eligible to apply.
3. The Admission test will be held at Chennai, Kochi, Kolkata, Mumbai, Pune, Bangalore, Hyderabad and Delhi.
4. The CET will have objective and descriptive questions in 6 subjects. The subjects are the Law of Contract, Tort Law, Constitutional law, Jurisprudence, Property Law and Indian legal history. The duration of the test will be 2 hours. The maximum marks is 200. There will be 50 objective questions and 3 descriptive questions. Each objective question carries 1 mark, and each descriptive question carries 50 marks.
5. Completed application forms should be sent to the “Controller of Examinations”, Indian Maritime University, East Coast Road, Uthandi, Chennai in an envelope super scribed “Application form for CETLL. M along with proof of payment or payment challan or demand draft for Rs 1000 (Rs 500 for SC/ST candidates) drawn in favour of “ Indian Maritime University” payable at Chennai.
6. The applicants are advised to write their name, address and phone number on the reverse of the DD. Incomplete application forms or those received after the due date (27th May 2011) will be summarily rejected and no enquiries will be entertained in this regard. The students are therefore advised to fill the relevant information carefully in the application form.
PLEASE NOTE THAT ALL APPLICATIONS HAVE TO BE ACCOMPANIED WITH 1 SELF-ADDRESSED AND RS 5/- STAMPED ENVELOPE OF 10” X 4-1/2 “ SIZE.7. Candidates are required to retain the admit cards with them and keep them in safe custody. He/She will be required to produce it at the time of counselling.
8. The CET Score is valid only for the academic session starting August 2011.
