Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad (IIM) was established on December 11, 1961. It is situated on a hundred acre campus in the midst of greenery and red bricks. Everything aroundIndian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad (IIM) echoes the vision of the founders and the process of change they initiated.The Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad (IIM) has over forty years of leadership in management education. It was established in 1961 as an autonomous Institution by the active collaboration of the government of India, government of Gujarat, and industry. Today, it is not only a leader in applied management education in Asia, but also one of the finest  Institutions of management education in the world. Applicants to FPM  possess from diverse backgrounds; only the best amongst them are admitted. Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad (IIMA) was conceived as a school of management and not purely as a business school. Its mission is to contribute to development of  management thought through research, teaching, institution building, and consulting. It also aims to professionalize some of the vital sectors of India’s economy such as agriculture, education, health, transportation, energy, and public administration.

The present campus, spread over 67 acres with a lush green cover, is being extended by a further 39 acres. The extended campus will feature a state-of-the-art international management and convention centre along with further classrooms, dormitories, and ancillary facilities.
