Description

BIT, Mesra is a "Deemed University" under Sec. 3 of the U.G.C. Act 1956.   It functions under the overall supervision, direction and control of a high power Board of Governors, comprising representatives of the Ministry of Education, Government of India, the U.G.C., the State Government, The Chancellor, the AICTE, The Hindustan Charity Trust and the Institute Faculty. Shri G.P. Birla is the Chairman of the Board of Governors. The Governor of the state of Jharkhand is the Chancellor of the Institute. The Technical Council decides the academic policy of the Institute.

The Institute has been accredited by the National Assessment & Accreditation Council (NAAC) & the National Board of Accreditation (NBA) established by the UGC & AICTE respectively. The Birla Institute of Technology was established in the year 1955 at Mesra, Ranchi, by the Philanthropist-Industrialist Mr. B M Birla with a vision to be recognized as a world-class learning institution for engineering and technology by providing the highest-quality academic programmes that foster student development and connect knowledge, practice, and outstanding scholarly research.

Campus Placement

The Department activities are diverse and yet pointed towards its core values of providing information, guidance, counselling as well as opportunities on campus for gainful employment.
The Campus Recruitment process of BIT has, for the past 50 years, been supplementing the needs of different sectors of the Industry.
The Department offers centralized services in Mesra, plus services in each of the extension centres, to meet the diverse needs of the BIT student population.
Relationships with several leading organizations have grown over the years and have matured into areas beyond just the recruitment visits.
The 'Competency Development Programme' initiated by the Department is very popular amongst the student community. This offers training programmes in soft-skills.

Campus recruitments have been very consistent and most of the companies visit year after year which reflects on the competencies of the students.

Selection Criteria

* Bachelor of Engineering (B.E.) programmes at Mesra, Patna and Deoghar will be made through AIEEE 2009 conducted by CBSE,   and Central Counselling conducted by the Central Counselling Board (CCB).

* Bachelor of Architecture programme (B. Arch) at Mesra will be made through Central Counselling conducted by the Central   Counselling Board (CCB) and any other examination to be prescribed by the competent authority.
