  • A triangle with sides 6,8 and 10 has its shortest side doubled in length while other sides remain same . What is the new area



    Ans - Its a right triangle , yet they have used herons formula and arrived 15 7^1/2 instead of 1/2X12(base)*8(ht). What is wrong in my apporach

    We can tell you what's wrong in your approach. When the base is changed or doubled then for the triangle to remain a right angled triangle, the hypotenuse must also change accordingly. But the length of hypotenuse is kept constant. Hence the new triangle is not a right angled triangle. So you have to use the Heron's formula.
