Sol. This expansions nothing but the decimal expansion of any number in any base to a base 10.

For eg are have a number 66 and we want to convert it into a binary number (base2)

So we first divide 66 by 2 then again divide the quotient obtained by 2 then again the quotient by 2 and so on.

    S 66=(1000010)2

This is successive division (we are dividing quotients obtained again by 2.

    In short form

we write all the remainders together
