  • Q- Two diamonds begin a free fall from rest from the same height, 1.0s apart. How long after the first diamond begins to fall will the two diamonds be 10m apart?

    use the formula
    S = ut + 1/2 gt2
    as u = 0
    so S1 = 5*t2
    and S2 = 5(t-1)2
    S1 - S2 = 10 = 5t2 - 5(t-1)2
    => t2- t2 + 2t -1 = 2
    =>   2t=3 or t =3/2sec
