Clearly, the angle of elevation is ?.

The initial angle at which the projectile is projected is ?. In the question, ? is given to be 45^o.

Clearly, tan? = maximum height/half of range = [u²sin²?/2g]/[u²sin2?/2g] = sin²?/sin2?. Putting ? = 45^o , we get:

tan? = 1/2. Hence then angle of elevation that we have to find out is tan^-11/2
