    The wave front from a point source is spherical. The picture below shows the shape.


    The wave front from a ray emerging from a point source placed in front of a convex lens is a grid of lines perpendicular to the axis of the lens as shown:


    The vertical lines above are wave fronts. This is because all rays emerging from the focus of a convex lens become parallel to its axis after refraction. The wavefronts are naturally perpendicular to the rays.
