    Are you talking about the system shown above?

    In the above case, torque due to spring force + torque due to gravity = I? where I is the moment of inertia of the system.

    So, -mgsin?L - k(asin?)(a) = I? Assuming that ? is small, we have -mg?L - k(a?)(a) = I?. Here L is the length of the string and a is the distance of the point on the string where the spring is attached from the roof. asin? is the compression of the spring at an instant when the string makes an angle ? with vertical.

    Simplifying, we get angular frequency as:

     
    The time period of the system is 2?/?.
